Back to Asakusa :-)

Today was a Korean friend's last day in Japan and since he was going to stay in the same hostel I stayed in, in Asakusa, I decided to join him and show him around the area. So herewith some new pictures from Asakusa:

The Tokyo Sky Tree (to be seen from the area where I live now as well):
Some children playing in/with the water fountain in the evening, right by the Tokyo Sky Tree:

This weekend I'm going to Hakone with Xueyao (my Chinese roommate) so I should have more things to tell you guys about.

Cheers

Day out with some Japanese friends

Yesterday I spent the day with some of my Japanese friends. As usual, I wasn't too sure of what we were going to do. I have asked some of my 'foreign' friends here and they have experienced the same thing wit their Japanese friends. We are never too sure of what's going on, but it's ok really. I know I always have a good time with these friends so I just ask where and when we meet and show up at the agreed time and place :-). Yesterday was no different than usual, I showed up at Roppongi-Itchome station at 10h30 and we left together from there. It ended up being a 'USA-Japan friendship day'. That involves a lot of typical US and Japan street food, music and shows. The area and weather were really nice even if very hot. Fortunately free beverages (Water, Oolong-cha, Coke, Beer, Juice) were given away. I was again able to talk Japanese during most of the day and learnd some new words. It took me a while to get back into it since I haven't been speaking Japanese lately. Anyways, herewith a few pics:

Sorry guys, my posts are getting more boring by the minute. This is all just every day stuff.
See ya ;-)

Random pictures

Sign seen in the toilet of an isakaya in Tokyo.

Very tasty Japanese sweet my roommate bought for me as a gift when she got back from her trip in the Kansai Area (Kyoto, Osaka, Nara,...) in Japan. The green is a green tea flavoured cookie and the inside is actually dark red and is red bean paste. Very traditional!

This picture is to show you how German people go about at studying Japanese: open a can of beer, and once in a while read out of a Japanese study book :p

Sayonara

Nothing special to say :p

Hi all,

I realise I haven't posted anything for a while but the reason is, I don't have much to tell. I know it's strange to write a post about not having much to say, but this way I can at least let you know everything is fine here. I have been to a festival in Yokosuka with some Japanese friends so I was very happy to speak Japanese during most of the day again. We played bowling and I had my best score ever (I usually send the ball straight in the gutter...) and we ate loads of "healthy" western food (Hot dog, Tacos, etc). I went out with some friends, had dinner in an isakaya with some other friends, etc. Everyday life really, but I'm enjoying it very much!

Bye

Photo's of June's interview

Hi all,

I think I mentioned that, in June, some of the people from my hostel and me were interviewed by university students who are starting a new, free magazine to have Japanese people be more aware of foreigners and their culture. I didn't have any pictures at that time, but the girl that interviewed us recently sent me the pics, so here they are:

From left to right: USA/Japan; Canada; strange Belgian girl :-)

On my right: Spain giving his impressions of Japan to our young Japanese interviewer.

That's all! Keep in touch, bye.

Free Yoga class at the shared house :-)

Hi guys,

I don't have that much to tell lately... But herewith a small picture of a free yoga class we've had at the shared house:

Canada is a certified yoga instructor, and recently we've had our first Yoga class. It was a lot of fun and we actually repeated it yesterday :-). Maybe we'll have another class tonight as well. Maybe I'll add a picture of more advanced yoga later on... We'll see :-)
